Blackbird Spanish Dance Company
Blackbird Spanish Dance Company is a young ensemble that was launched in the summer of 2023. Our mission is to create powerful work that addresses pressing questions, to expand the scope and reach of Spanish dance through the creation of new works and to explore the meaning of the phrase "when art is the cure".

The Message
Blackbird Spanish Dance Company premiered "The Message", a 45-minute meditation in movement, song and poetry that combined live and recorded music, choreographed and improvised dance, spoken word and media to address our climate grief. The work conveys stages of insouciance, recognition, paralysis and the weight of consequence. Performed by Company artists Aliesha Bryan, Georgia Dahill-Fuchel (pictured), Olyda Ola and Yasmina Yuexi.
"'The Message' ...was awesome. We got the message. Such a moving and thought provoking performance." - Audience member
At the Piano
"At the Piano" is a compassionate gaze into the complexities of post-pandemic social reintegration. Set to a soundtrack of contemporary Flamenco music, including the Jerezana vocalist Maria Terremoto, Sevillian pianist Pedro Ricardo Miño and Granadino vocalist Antonio Campos, as well as Chopin and original song compositions, the artists use the movement languages of Flamenco, Danza Estilizada, and more to dance the themes of isolation, togetherness, and survival. "At the Piano" will be performed by Aliesha Bryan (Pájaro Negro), Georgia Dahill-Fuchel, Freddy Ruiz, Qi Yang, and guests Antonio "Tiriti" Tran and Vinay Maloo.
Can't make the show in person? Join us for an open rehearsal on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Registration closed - at capacity. Thank you!
